Who are the people of First Lutheran Church?

One of the greatest challenges a community faces is to define who they are. Here at First Lutheran Church, we know who we are. We are Children of God. We are here to preach the Gospel of Christ, to welcome people to the Lord’s Supper and into the Body of Christ through Holy Baptism. Together, we sow the seeds of God’s Word and cultivate the Christian faith in all ages. Together, we at First Lutheran Church are excited about our opportunities of worship and service in the name of Christ and in service to God.

First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, Iowa is one of nearly 10,300 congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). A statement of our purpose, as a congregation, was clearly stated by one of our early pastors. We are here to:

--Sow the seeds of the word and cultivate the Christian faith

--Offer the opportunity for worship

--Serve in the name of Jesus Christ

First Lutheran Church, as a part of the ELCA, is a community of faith that shares a passion for making positive changes in our community and the world. Our faith is built around a strong belief in God as made known to us in Jesus Christ. Through worship, service and education, we practice our faith, grow our relationship with God and experience God's grace in our lives.
